Williamson says, ‘The brief was to cover the last forty years of artmaking in South Africa, against the background of events happening within the country… My hope for the book is that it brings the strong, engaged work of the artists in it to the attention of a brand new audience. The regrettable part is that there were so many fine artists I could not include.’
